I just signed up for two more races in May: 5150 New Orleans on May 15th and the Capitol of Texas Triathlon (CapTex) on May 30th. It’s going to be an awesome month! Training is going very well, the weather is getting nicer, I don’t seem to be allergic to anything in Colorado (a clear nose in May is a delightful change of pace from Washington), and I don’t have to travel over an ocean any time soon. Life is good!
Here’s some photographs of the past couple months. (Just click on the image to see a bigger, uncropped version.) It’s been a nice Spring so far.
This was the OTC Dining Hall’s Celebration of Spring. This is the kind of food that makes you a better athlete.
Mojdeh makes the best meat pies ever. (also the only ones I’ve had). Not pictured is the Creme Brulee she made for dessert. I’m going to miss her (and Rory) when she moves to Seattle for law school next month. Perhaps I’ll have to move back?
My New TT Bike. So far I think I like it (when the brake works).
My new Road bike. I’m doing a few upgrades, including some sweet 3T drop bars with integrated shorty TT extensions.
This ZeroD suit is cool enough that I’ve hung up the pink Helmet and opted to look like a patriotic baddass instead.
Ileana and me attempting some Blue Steel poses in the Miami sunshine.
I decided to get a haircut before the Nautica South Beach Triathlon because Pual MItchel was sponsoring the event and doing hair cuts for anyone that made a donation. The girl (in the picture) took one look at me (or my afro at least), turns to her boss and asks, “what do I DO with that?” I told her to cut it like Justin Timberlake, but she claimed not to know who was talking about.
When we travel the OTC dining hall will pack food for the flight if we ask. This box was WAY more than I expected, but I still managed to polish it off during my travels.
After spending the a day at the beach with Ileana I decided to ruin this picture of the skyline at sunset.
No Mark, it’s the FIRST person to the line. The race was over 20 minutes ago.
Mark Fretta, Ben Collins, and Nicholas Vandam after teh Ishigaki World Cup. Hunter Kemper was too busy standing on the Podium and Steve Sexton apparently thought the finish line was in his hotel room.
Jillian Peterson. She eats. And eats. How is she so skinny?
My mom tried to match the OTC travel food with this bag from Trader Joe’s.
I think she wins. Look at all that good stuff! Plus she drove all the way to Seatac Airport to spend an hour with me during a layover on the way back from Japan. Go Mom!!
My singing voice is terrible (Steve’s is much better), but at least I have fun trying.
Mark and I spend a lot of time pedaling away in the basement of the Olympic Training Center. Most of the time we turn up the trance music and get our groove on. We’re awesome.
you won NOLA? with no swim? WOOOOHOOOO.
