  1. Hey Ben,

  2. ben,

nice job today at the magicisland biathalon… you kicked my ass. best of luck to you as you work towards 2012 in london.

  3. Hi Ben,

I find your blogs to be so inspiring. I’m living in Maui and I would like to take full advantage of Haleakala and all that it has to offer. Do you have any advice for a wannabe tri-athlete that is starting training later in life?

  4. Ben,

I hope you feel better soon! I am well acquainted with doctors and hospitable even though it may be Peds (pediatric). * If they, being doctors, ask you if you want pain medication, it usually means they either expect you to be in pain or will be in more pain shortly, so my rule of thumb is if they ask I say yes, but that is just me. Courtenay says your a very lovely person. I wish you the best and a speedy recovery. Good Luck!

  5. Hi, Enjoy your blog but I can’t see your latest race report. It’s blank. I don’t know if it’s my computer or yours. Good luck in your season.

  9. Hey Ben, let me know when you are in Seattle, and come swim with my team. We are doing well, and are getting some fast kids, they would love to meet you, and you could swim for free!

  10. Looking good Ben. Going to be attending the race in NYC August 7th, wondered what you are doing before hand. Hope all is well!

  11. Volunteered at the race today. You kicked butt. Congrats on the win. Did not know you went to Columbia. Good stuff. Makes the win sweeter.

  12. Nice win today Ben! We were afraid you were going to blow up on the run after those hills without being able to draft on the flat areas. The 13 guys in the chase pack looked cool as cucumbers, so way to go keeping ahead of them for the win. This should clinch you a spot for the olympic qualifiers, eh? My friend’s boys aged 11 and 7 were excited to see the USA win!

Thanks for your prerace advice for a newbie yesterday before the ‘charla técnica’.

  15. @Champion_System I don’t know if I can grow a mustache, but I’m willing to find out.

  16. Hi Ben,

Your parents have been coming to our restaurant, for awhile now, when they are in Missouri. We have a small family owned and operated restaurant called Abigail’s, in Rocheport. Just this past week we were able to have more of a conversation. They said that there son was a professional triathlete. I was immediately interested!. Growing up as a swimmer and swimming through college at the University of Missouri, I found my love for triatalons in my mid twenties just as the sport was starting to become popular. Due to raising our family and opening our business, traveling to compete became very difficult. My favorite distance is the ironmans. My plans is to compete again in a couple of years to celebrate my 50th. Again staying more local, so I probably won’t run into you. Looking at your results you are doing so well. I wish the best of training and competing. Keep up the good hard work!

    Sincerely ,

    Susan Schapira

  17. Ben, it was great having you speak to our Sunrise Triathlon Club yesterday in Shreveport! Thanks for the insight!
